Monster of the Day #1956

Man, Amazon Prime really is like an old, big, disorganized video rental place. Wander the shelves and enjoy the crap! (Good stuff, too, but who cares about that?) Last week I featured Queen Crab, the Brett Piper film that features stop-animated giant crabs. Prime also offers Arachnia, the Piper film that features stop-animated giant spiders. It’s not a great movie, but hey, stop-animated giant spiders!

Is the spider trying to eat that car or mate with it?

  • Yes.

I saw the film once. It taught me sometimes you need more than a stop-motion giant spider. A good script is better.

Might have worked better if the car was a Bug.

As in Giant Spider Invasion, in which the largest spider is literally both a bug, and a Bug.

I agree, but there are lots of films that don’t have any of that sort of thing OR stop-animated spiders. And at least Piper tries to give his characters a bit of depth. I will agree that I wouldn’t want to sit through his entire catalogue.
