Monster of the Day #1948

Amazon Prime! Someday I need to start watching more stuff there. Actually good movies, good junk, bad junk, classic TV shows. (Both Secret Agent Man and The Prisoner.) And I really just subscribe for the free shipping, so its all a bonus. It’s pretty sweet.

How many people here have Amazon Prime? Perhaps we should all watch an Amazon Prime movie one weekend (not necessarily the same one) and do a little roundtable.

  • Beckoning Chasm

I used to have Prime, but then the economy insisted otherwise.

  • I have Prime, for what its worth.

  • bgbear_rnh

Have it. When Netflix first went streaming they had a lot of classic stuff/good old junk, but then they got special and had to make room for the more enlightened content. Amazon Prime has picked up the slack.

My Amazon prime special treat of the moment is several Lee Van Cleef Italian westerns.

    If it costs money…it ain’t happenin’…

  • kgb_san_diego

I have it. Been watching Dororo there recently…

  • zombiewhacker

I have it. Now I’m just trying to figure out how to watch Prime on my PS4.

  • I’m in on a roundtable. That might even motivate my lazy ass to unshutter my blog. Prime also has (or had, it’s where I saw it) the fabulous documentary on the making of this “Best Worst Movie”. Worth the watch.

  • Ken_Begg

Yes! When I subscribed to Netflix back in the DVD days, it was so that I could access the sort of junk cinema that you couldn’t get through, say, public libraries. I assume Amazon saw a window of opportunity as Netflix’s strategy evolved towards dumping old weird programming, and decided to exploit that. Kudos to them!

  • Ken_Begg

Ooh, what do you think? Have you checked out any of the 1969 Dororo anime on YouTube?

  • Ken_Begg

Well, if we roundtable just grab anything you have handy and jump in.

  • Ken_Begg

yeah, that’s pretty great. They also currently carry Lost Soul, the insane documentary about the making of the Brando Island of Dr. Moreau.

And gee, if only there was some crazy TV show you could examine as a running series on your blog.

  • Oh, trust me, I am still taking notes on I-TMD daily. But I’m debating whether I want to tackle the writing a season at a time instead of episode by episode. I am bear the dual crosses of being excessively verbose, while at the same time a terrible typist, so things take forever to get from brain to electrons (and no, so far, talk-to-text doesn’t work for me as the thought processes are so different between how I speak and how I write).

Lost Soul was indeed insane (and excellent) I watched it as soon as I got home from seeing IoDM at this years B-Fest. FYI, The B-Fest write up has been 80% done (including pictures) since January, it’s just that I get to that brutal 8 hours on Saturday and my brain rebels at reliving them. Everything else is in the can.

  • The Rev.

I wish I could say my B-Movie piece was that far along…

I also have the Prime, so I would be totally down for a roundtable. I’m sure Sandy has it, as well.

  • kgb_san_diego

Not yet. The new anime is wonderful so far, tho.

  • Ken_Begg

It’s an interesting compare and contrast. The original reflects the manga more closely, including the weirdly discordant cartoony art style. The newer version is a very neat revamp, however. I’ve been focusing on March Comes in Like a Lion lately, but I need to catch up on Dororo because I’m way behind. It’s also keeping me from watching the very well received Demon Slayer: Kimetsu, which is also currently running, as it looks somewhat similar and I didn’t want to have the two shows step on each other by watching them at the same time.

  • Ken_Begg

I am bear the dual crosses of being excessively verbose…

Yes, I’ve notice that about your writing, and it’s a major flaw when somebody writes that way.

  • *blows raspberries*

  • Marsden

I have it and I’m watching The Prisoner for the first time, among other things.
