Monster of the Day #1927

We always end the spring fest with a film made in Texas, and this Houston-filmed sci-fi action flick sure fit the bill. It’s pretty fun, like a dumber The Hidden, although the core motive of the murderous alien is quite nifty.

The movie was indeed terrible, but the scene where the lady mechanic buys it was at least enjoyable :)

I’ve always heard this one is better than its reputation.

I bet R.O.T.O.R. could take that alien like it was a cheap office chair.

I COME IN PEACE right? Not seen all of it, but interesting, in the Joe Bob Briggs definition.

  • Yup. I haven’t seen it in a while, but I remember it being alright.

Of course, with my standards being what they are, that might not be quite the praise it might appear to be.

If it’s the one I think it is I really liked the hero’s Monte Carlo SS, I had one much like it back in the early ’90s.

Yes. I was pretty pumped to watch it as I remember enjoying it in my younger years, although I hadn’t seen it in quite a while. My memories did not play me false, as it’s a solid, if goofy, action movie with, as Ken said, a pretty great villain motivation. I was able to pay more attention to Matthias Hues this time, as I’ve since seen quite a few movies with him and discovered he is capable of acting. Obviously he has little to go with here, but he does do some nice facial acting. There were a couple of points where I would have sworn they were shooting in downtown Dallas, but no mention of any city outside of Houston is listed, so I guess I was mistaken.
