Monster of the Day #1908

Man, these are just gorgeous.

That is beautifully rendered–though a bit overcrowded for my tastes. Still you can’t fault the craftsmanship.

Um, so is there a theme this week of posters that wrote checks the actual movies couldn’t cash?

  • As I recall it (and it has been a while) this was one of the better anthology horror flicks. Though the SHOCKING ENDING was by this point so very played out.

  • zombiewhacker

Agreed. The first two segments were the easily weakest, but then the stories grew progressively better, and the host segments with Lee, Cushing, and Donald Sutherland sharing screen time together were great fun. All in all a very satisfying horror pic.

So this is ‘Dr. Terror’s House of Horrors’? The train and lack of a house in the poster confused me. This is one of the few Amicus anthology I haven’t seen.

  • zombiewhacker

Correct. The host segments take place in a London train car where five homeward-bound businessmen are read their fortunes by a tarot card-wielding stranger named Schreck. No actual house of horrors appears in the film… hence its absence from the poster.
