Monster of the Day #1901

If I’ve learned one thing for looking at Thai horror movie posters, it’s that Thailand audiences love crocodiles.

I gues all they have to do to make a Thai horror movie is go downto the nearest river and toss a couple of young lovelies in. Then roll the cameras and record the ensuing crocodile feeding frenzy. I wonder if Hollywood will consider this method?

Hmmm, I’m looking at AsianCrush right now and there are 40 Thai movies listed but none with crocs in the photos. Maybe I should email them and request some of these??? I want to see a Thai giant friggin’ croc movie!!!

I’ve only watched 4 Thai movies so far. The villains have been:

‘Devil Run’: Satan and Grim Reapers
‘Dead Bite’: Zombies and xenophobic natives
‘Deep in the Jungle’: Naga: aka giant snakes that can assume human form
‘Legend of Sudakorn’: Evil king and various fantasy critters

How was the one with the Nagas?

Well, it’s wasn’t exactly terrible but not that good either. I’d give it 2-2.5 stars out of 5. If you can find it there are worse ways to waste an evening but I’m not sure I’d go out of my way to look for it.

The most horrifying thing about it is the CGI. I swear computer games from 1995 had better animated cut scenes than this. I don’t normally gripe about bad FX in a cheap movie, I think we all love that sort of stuff here but in this one the gadawful animated snakes just kept pulling me out of the movie. It was made in 2008 I think but the snake in the 1997’s ‘Anaconda’ was leagues better.
