I can see women get so insanely angry about these things. (I’m looking at you, GalaxyJane.) She could at least be making him coffee or something.

I do think that since the painted covers were undoubtedly the best part of Gold Key comics, that having additional pin-up pages really makes sense. Of course, comics have a bigger page count back then, too.

  • Just trying to suss out the general situation here. Did the Robinsons killing Brainiac there, or are they trying to protect him from the other monsters? And are they actually protecting anything, or have they come to disrupt a birthday party or something? Not that three fourths of that group look like they’re running away in terror. The fourth looks more shocked than terrifying. “I can’t believe the blond one shot me!”

    Then we have the two aliens in the background. They don’t even seem to be aware of the Robinsons. Latecomers to the party? Rushing to help the fleeing aliens? Wanting to help the Robinsons?

    And what’s Tam looking at, exactly? Her gaze isn’t at the action, but something surprising her off panel (pin up?)? More alien beasts on the way? Superman come to chastise the two for offing Braniac? Of course I’m being redundant with the last part, but still, overly curious minds wanna know…

    This could be the cover of a 70’s prog-rock album. Presumably the lyrics would provide some context!

    Oh, oh! GJ is gettin’ all sassy because she’s inspired by the new female superhero. She got the exact same way after the new Doctor Who was cast.

    That depends on how you define ‘well-behaved’. I still remember the story about the old German settler woman here in PA who fought off an Indian attack, protecting her kids and neighbors. She killed three Indians with an axe as they came in through the window, then dragged the bodies outside and returned to cleaning up the mess.

    Her husband apparently found quite the surprise when he returned home.
