Monster of the Day #1891

Fear the Glitter!

Second most deadly crystal in the universe. First was giving the sweetheart some ‘diamonds’ that are actually cubic zirconium on Valentine’s Day…

The Psycho Crystals toured with The Dilithium Minors in the Summer of ’71.

Again with the no Phasers! I’m beginnin’ to see a pattern here…

Phaser? I don’t even think she noticed.

[Hey, where is the girl in distress for this cover? ]

I love stuff like this from the days before branding was such a big deal. We don’t need no stinkin’ logo from the show, we’ll make up our own! And new uniforms every time too. This is the first one of these that I’m actually pretty sure which characters I’m seeing. At least 90% sure. Mostly because of Spock’s ears…

I had this one! There are people that are crystaline in nature, the live in caverns because light is there food/energy source so being out in the sun can over feed them and kill them. Their children are kind of like what Spock is holding, though and they stay on the surface until they can move around. Some guys were using the children like a mineral resource without knowing or caring they are alive, the Enterprise stops them but then this dragon attacks the village, Spock is able to use one of the baby’s natural defenses to drive it away. Great story! Thanks Ken!

They later were used in the hyperspace shunt drives from the _Galaxy Rangers_ series.

Oops; in retrospect I’m confusing two different types of fictional stones from that show. Sorry.

The Psycho Crystals were used by the Queen of the Crown to make her Crown Agents. The drives used Star Stones.
