Monster of the Day #1889

Ah, killer plants.

Is that supposed to be Kirk? And that’s not a knife, *this* is a knife. And what’s with that guy’s hand?

  • Gamera977

Hmm, looking at my cell phone screen this morning I thought knife guy was supposed to be Scotty. But looking on the bigger PC screen it does look like Kirk with black hair. Or Scott Bakula as Captain Archer…

And is that supposed to be Yeoman Rand in the air? Funny they’d do a plants on the rampage episode of the cartoon show in ’75-76.

  • Beckoning Chasm

The guy in the plant’s clutches is probably Eddie Paskey.

  • Eric Hinkle

I remember how this one ended. The plants were raising animals to eat and tried the same with the crew.

So Kirk used the Enterprise to kill every living thing on the planet. Seriously! They showed the ship’s phasers burning everything to death in a fiery holocaust.

So much for the Prime Directive, huh?

  • Gamera977

Ack, sounds like one of the Abrams movies. After burning the planet to death then Chris Pine would make a speech about how ‘violence never solves anything.’ The real Kirk (The Shat) would find some cute dryad like plant creature and um… pollinate her until she agreed to stop killing animals and let the Enterprise go.

Still it would be more entertaining than listening to Picard talk the alien plants to death…

Cannibal? That word you keep using . . .

  • Ah, three fine young officers upholding the grandest of Starfleet traditions: the offing of the Red Shirts. Does the heart good to see.

  • Flangepart

A knife? No phasers? Okay, that’s it…who ever wrote these had no idea how the show worked. But you knew that.

  • zombiewhacker

    “Cannibal plants stalk animal prey”?!

Cannibalism implies eating one’s own species. A plant eating an animal is no more of a cannibal than an animal eating a plant.

  • Beckoning Chasm

“And what’s with that guy’s hand?”

His foot, too. It appears he’s turning into a plant. Then he might start eating humans, kind of making him a cannibal.

  • BGBear_rnh learntocode

    That makes sense.

  • thunderclancat

    Less cruel too.

  • Gamera977

Gives a whole new meaning to the term ‘Captain’s Log’ eh?

    Plant aka tree aka log???

Yeah it’s sad and the worse part is it took me three days to think that up…

  • Rodford Smith

I figured that out in the one issue of this comic I bought, back in the day. it showed the _Enterprise_ with rocket flames shooting out the rear of the warp nacelles.

  • Rodford Smith

    I got it. I just didn’t want it. :-)
