Monster of the Day #1782

Surely one of the strangest (and most enduring) mash-ups was DC Comics’ Weird War Tales. You get the general idea from this cover, I’m sure. It ran for years, and in fact, I’ll probably just feature it next week, because there’s a lot of material.

In the meantime, have a great weekend, everyone.

Great Joe Kubert art–I recognized his style before I saw his signature. And I’m intrigued by “Fort Which Did Not Return!” story. I’m wondering how an entire fort left in the first place.

  • Gamera977

I found a tabletop RPG called ‘Weird Wars’ based off this comic and similar material. Sadly I was never able to find anyone that wanted to play.

I wondering if the swastika on the arm of Muller’s greatcoat is reversed on purpose or accident. Clockwise it’s National Socialism, counter-clockwise it’s an Indian good luck symbol…

  • Beckoning Chasm

“How can I strike the most terror in the Americaner swine? I know, I’ll attack them while not wearing pants!”

  • bgbear_rnh

Müller wont die. Sounds familiar some how.

  • maggie smith

Two days ? He certainly rotted fast.

  • Maybe that’s what’s keeping him “alive”?

  • GreenLuthor

It doesn’t look reversed to me?

  • Gamera977

    Maybe it’s my eyes… ;(

  • Eric Hinkle

Man how I loved this comic. It had the greatest stories.

  • Marsden

G I Robot and Creature Commandos were my favorites!

  • Eric Hinkle

They were great, and so was the Haunted Tank.
