Monster of the Day #1778

Swamp monster! (That woman might have wanted to consider her wardrobe a bit more.)

Saw Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger and Godzilla vs the Sea Monster in a theater yesterday, so that was nice. Also, I had breakfast at the L&L Snackshop. People who have visited for B-Fest will know what I’m talking about.

“Okay, for this cover I want a swamp monster. And I want him to look like a melted Donald Duck. And, with fried eggs for eyes. Can you get that done by Friday?”

  • Eric Hinkle

Thanks, I needed to see something light-hearted and weird after events on DeviantArt. Some sicko has a beef with one artist I follow so they spam everything they did with police photos of dead and mutilated children while cackling away over how clever they are. They did this using something like 20-30 accounts too.

Even better, DA banned the /accounts/… but left the photos up. Seeing glorious color up-close photos of mangled kids isn’t how I want to spend my time online.

This was the third or fourth time they did this too, and the artist is planning on leaving because of both the freak and DA’s lackluster handling of it all.

  • Going to commit heresy here, but had a greek omelet with gyro meat last week in Virginia Beach that was officially *better* than L and L’s. Also a hole in the wall, owned by Greeks (And judging by the tigers on the wall in red jacket and blue trousers, a Sambos once upon a different universe ago). It was the best omelet I had ever tasted. And the French Toast was also pretty much on point.

Glad you found your own L&L! I’m not really an omelet guy, so I have no dog in that hunt.

  • Gamera977

Gee friggin’ whiz, I’m a pretty big First Amendment guy but some people really stretch my tolerance…

  • Gamera977

May I ask the name? I tend to alternate my vacations between Virginia and Myrtle Beach. Myrtle is up this year but I’d like to try the place next year.

  • Eric Hinkle

Isn’t this ass breaking some kind of law just by mailing around those photos of mangled corpses? Like I said, some of them are kids and there’s a definite note of ‘I want this to be you’. Isn’t that supposed to count as terrorism these days?

  • Maple Tree Pancake House. On Atlantic between 26th and 27th.

If you are a bourbon fan at all I can also say that a tour and tasting at the new distillery in the basement of the re-opened Cavalier is well worth a visit too.

  • Gamera977

Thanks!!! Not much of a drinker but I’ll give the Pancake House a try when I’m there next year!

  • The Rev.

I need an excuse to go there ’cause I got into bourbon a couple of years ago.
