Monster of the Day #1729

We opened Tween Fest with the obscure but delightful Captain Sindbad, a non Harryhausen film that retains a ton of charm. However, all the beasties from that have been featured here before. Next was Dr. Giggles, which was quite a bit better than most of us were expecting. A win for Sandy, certainly. After that was Sandy’s slate of funny music videos, then dinner, then…

Mac and Me. I think it’s the worst ET knock-off, but admittedly entries like Nukie make it a horse race.

Plumbing and toys in the same aisle?

  • Flangepart

For some kids, plumbing is a toy… don’t ask me how I know that.

  • silverwheel

Paul Rudd was great in this one.

  • Gamera977

Not sure they could be much worse than ‘Pod People’…

  • kgb_san_diego

I can hear that frightful whistling in my nightmares!

  • bgbear_rnh

    It stinks.

  • The Rev.

I can’t say re: Nukie, but this one is worse. Trumpy is a lot cuter, and there are more amusing moments in it than in Mac and Me which had, I think, two, both involving potential massive harm to the protagonist and/or the aliens.

Seriously though, it looks like the toy store would not let them film so they got a hardware store instead and stacked up a few toys.

  • bgbear_rnh

Never saw it but looked up the runaway wheel chair scene over a cliff. All the scene needed was Richard Widmark giggle hysterically.

  • The Rev.

I recently found out that that scene was a running joke Paul Rudd had when he went on Conan O’Brien’s show. I am very amused by this.

    Now I get silverwheel’s comment.
