Monster of the Day #1577

This was pretty controversial at the time. The show was still considered kiddie fare at the time, and this freaked a lot of youngsters out. Parents were concerned, but the kids actually loved it, of course. It heralded a new, more horror-oriented bent for the program.

  • They’re pretty damn good. Robert Holmes wrote him, and there were few writers on the program who were his equal. None were better, though that’s my $0.02

    The walking mannequins were really the only element that made this particular episode different from the second Quatermas film.

  • Man, this is a great story. Holds up well and is still one of my absolute favorites. And again this is a place where the older, less slick costuming is far creepier and more effective than the modern take.

  • You know, outside of “Rose” the new series has not utilized these guys nearly as much as they should.
