Monster of the Day #1559

Got my “Monsterbus” yesterday, the Marvel omnibus with nearly 900 pages of wacky pre-superhero Marvel madness. I haven’t had time to crack it open, but needless to say, the anticipation is great.

Monster Groot is on the cover, of course. Fin Fang Foom will do the honors on Volume 2 in August.

The Blip is a pretty weak monster name, although this guy looks like a precursor of Zzzax, the electrical being whose been around for quite a while fighting the likes of the Hulk.

    Off topic: just heard director Yoshimitsu Banno, the man who made Godzilla fly, died.

    Oh, is SG popular? I know very little about comics and hadn’t even heard of her till I saw a guy on a blog I read playing her on a Marvel online game. I was thinking this cannot be a real thing until I looked it up. Somehow I like the idea of a character so corny and silly in these days of dark brooding everything.

    Just found that out today as well. All the Showa-era directors are gone now. :(

  • From what I here, yeah. She has her own comic, and every time I see it reviewed it gets good reviews (and for the record it isn’t a grim dark affair.)

    Personally, I don’t get it, but hey! Good for the creators involved.
