Monster of the Day #1490

Ah, Charles Band, you magnificent bastard.

Yaaaaayyyyyyyy, the fun monsters are back!

Ok, actually this one is pretty creepy too.

Ya know I feel kinda bad, I think I’ve only seen two of Band’s movies. ;Doctor Mordrid’ which now I want to see again as the earlier ‘Doctor Strange’ and I think it was ‘Dollman vs. Demonic Toys’ (was this a Band movie?) – anyway I had Tracy Scoggins in it.

DvDT was a Band movie. Tracy Scoggins was also in the original Demonic Toys as the protagonist. I was not happy with what happened over the course of DvDT, and it’s not very good anyway as I recall. Other than Tim Thomerson, of course. Doctor Mordrid is no great shakes, either, but I have a special place in my heart for it as my introduction to Jeffrey Combs. Also, the finale is pretty great.

If you ever want to delve further into Full Moon’s stuff, I would suggest the third through fifth Puppet Master movies, as they are the best ones and contain a story arc unto themselves, which completely rewrites the storyline from the first two anyway so really you’re not missing anything on that end. Not that the first two don’t have their moments, so feel free to check them out. The original Demonic Toys is all right, and as a bonus it contains the most cringe-inducing line I’ve ever heard the Devil deliver. I know Ken has an appreciation for the Subspecies series, but I never got around to it so I can’t advise. That’s about all I’m coming up with right now.

Chuck Schumer deals with a Trump supporter.

Yeah…but the puppet has more personality.

Well, I just liked ‘Mordrid’ due to Combs and Brian friggin’ Thompson! I don’t remember anything about DvDT other than Scoggins. Thanks for the advice, I’ll have to look up the ‘Puppet Master’ movies sometime if only for my credentials as a bad movie fan.
