Monster of the Day #1401

Hmm, this series’ monsters were far goofier than I remember, although they seem to have gone for sadly elliptical shots of them.

    Looks like a mid-melt Stripe.

Oh, are we doing the Watchers movies? Because I’m pretty sure this is the interpretation of the creature from the third one. Which is the only one I’ve seen. For reasons I cannot begin to explain.

  • Did the reasons involve good taste?

(Small note: I’ve seen the first two films years ago, they weren’t that bad, but I’d read the book first and they didn’t compare, save in that I’m not sure I’d want to experience any of them again.)

Well, I found it, at a small mom and pop video store in college, to rent for dirt cheap. I’m going to assume the fact that the goofy-ass monster was proudly displayed on the cover may have factored into the decision, as was their relatively limited selection of horror and sci-fi movies (being a small mom and pop video store). However, I had never read the book or seen any of the movies, and never really made an effort to do so. Hence there not really being a good reason I can explain for the decision to watch it. Especially in hindsight, as there was very little benefit to the experience.

Whatever the cause, it’s probably the same reason that I’ve only seen the third of the Xtro movies. Especially since I’ve wanted to see the original for a while, even more so after Red Letter Media watched and discussed it on one of their “Best of the Worst” episodes.

Seriously, I need to finally see that. After those other, more pressing movies on the slate.
