Monster of the Day #1389

Yesterday I stumbled across a Half Price Books (sparse on the ground up here) and foolishly went in. I knew I was in trouble when I saw a graphic novel display right in front of the door.

My eye was immediately drawn to six or seven or eight hardcover volumes of reprints of old Sci-Fi comics apparently “presented” by Roy Thomas. I was spared from dropping a C-note (although at $13 a crack they were a genuine volume) when I instead spied an absolutely lovely set of two hardcover books in a gorgeous slip-cover. It was the run of this very comic. According to eBay, the set was very cheaply priced at $25 (plus tax), so I’m pretty satisfied with the purchase. Where I’m going to store the thing is another question.

  • I think Merlin here should have stuck to Jiffy Pop Pop Corn.

‘I have no idea what this spell summons, let’s try it and find out!’

  • Eric Hinkle

    Well, it’s certainly a Thing.

“And this, young master Potter, is why some wizards end up being torn limb from limb by their own research.”

He can’t blame this one on his mouse apprentice.

“That’s IT! I’m sick of being interrupted when I’m on the john. For that, I eat your liver! Frackin’ Wizards and their summonings…”

Dumbledore’s plan to get James Arness’s autograph goes horribly awry.
