Monster of the Day #1345

This is exactly what the title promises. It’s basically a Troma movie, with amped up gore and sex and broad humor. It delivers those things though, and renters will undoubtedly be happy with it. And hey, the monster isn’t CGI. They announced a sequel a while ago, but it’s been long enough I wonder if there were problems getting the production going.

  • Honestly? What kind of Werewolf needs a gun? Does he read them their rights, too? Keep their heads from bouncing on the squad car? He probably even serves and protects, too.

Larry Talbot would be ashamed. ASHAMED!

Funding has been cut back on the K-9 unit and we had to let one team member go. However, we do feel that we can still provide service to the community under the re-structuring plan. . .

Then again, it reminds me of Mike’s riff line in WEREWOLF.
“Now that I can drive, those deer don’t stand a chance!”

    “Cop Dog, Part II.”

Bad dog, bad dog. What ya gonna do when they come for you?

    Scram, here comes the fuzz!

I’m not familiar with this at all. I am very interested, though.

On a related tangent, I saw Scanner Cop last week. I was surprised; it was actually pretty good. For the most part it didn’t throw out any surprises, but it clicked along. The titular character actually has some interesting conflicts regarding using his powers, and for how long; the actor isn’t bad, although (unsurprisingly) Richard Lynch and his femme fatale sidekick tend to steal the movie when they’re onscreen. Probably my favorite part is that they set up a love interest, and then as soon as she sees SC in action that’s a no-go, and she actually gets to be a character rather than The Love Interest. Not only does the movie not need a romantic subplot, but the way it’s stopped before it can really start makes perfect sense. Oh, and of course we get a few icky and cool practical effects. I liked it enough that I hope I can find the sequel soon.

Is this a film titled ‘Wolf Cop”? I think I’ve seen it in the video section at the local Wal-Mart.

  • It is. It’s also currently running on Netflix and can be rented or bought from Amazon Video. I know no more about it, myself, though I occasionally consider watching it. Ken’s good word does make it more likely, but there is A LIST that needs tending.

    Thanks for the information.
