Monster of the Day #1344

Two days ago Imgur was being weird, then yesterday I got up late after a late, very cold game at Wrigley Field. So here’s the last of the T(ween)-Fest monsters. Have I really not showcased this guy before? Meh, if I have, I have.

Another of Sandy’s childhood favorites, the lush but crazy George Pal production of Atlantis the Lost Continent, had a weird Dr. Moreau subplot, but I couldn’t find any pictures of the briefly seen (and very cheaply done) animal men. So here was our last monster movie of the Fest. Have I really never featured this? Meh, if I had, it’s worth another look.

Here’s the sort of shot the film excelled in.

Make sure you’re wearing clean underwear/panties in case you’re eaten by a monster.

  • SteveWD

That poor creature, just trying to enjoy a hike, and people keep running up and jumping into its mouth.

  • bgbear_rnh

A monster so voracious that it ate the soundtrack.

One of my all time favorite lines because it was done in the narration:
The Colonel, more concerned with saving human lives than advancing Science, told Bradford to “Go to Hell”

  • The Rev.

A lot of times, when Ken or Sandy show a bad movie I’ve already seen, I’m full of unhappiness at having to see it again.

This was not one of those times, because this movie is almost non-stop hilarity.

  • Beckoning Chasm

If nothing else, the monster is…unique.

  • Eric Hinkle

*Looks at second shot.* Yeah, I was gonna say that the Creeping Terror didn’t look right without a screaming lovely’s legs kicking away as it ate her whole. I still can’t figure out how I somehow thought this was such an amazing movie when I first saw it at the age of 7 or so. Must have been the whole seeing people eat eaten on screen. It certainly wasn’t the plot or characters.

  • Flangepart

“Rob, if you grab my butt on this take, so help me I’ll kick you in the nads!”

  • Gamera977

‘Does my butt look big in this monster?’

  • Gamera977

Gives a whole new meaning to getting ‘shagged by a horrible monster’.

  • That second picture is like the inverse of a ZZTop song. The lady had legs, but she didn’t know how to use them. She didn’t even know the proper shoes to wear when using them.

  • The Rev.

This is completely unrelated, but since I just found out that it’s today (4/29) and I know of no more appropriate place to put it…everyone wish a happy birthday to Jabootu subject and original Captain America, Reb Brown!

  • Not to be that guy (except I’m TOTALLY being That Guy), but Reb Brown wasn’t the first Captain America; Dick Purcell was.

    Still, Happy Birthday Reb Brown!

  • The Rev.

Ah. I was not aware that there had been a Captain America serial. My mistake. And no worries on correcting me; a day with nothing new learned is a day wasted, after all.

Is he the first movie CA? Maybe I could amend it.

  • I think first movie CA works. Outside of the serials (which from what I understand stray a great deal from the source) I can’t think of another live action Cap.

  • bgbear_rnh

    Rock Hardcheese

  • The Rev.

    Buff Drinklots

    Big McLargehuge

    Brick Hardmeat

I could do this all day.

Oddly enough, one of the posters at the old Jabootu forum went by the member name Gristle McThornbody.
