Monster of the Day #1301

Rock mentioned this one yesterday. I haven’t seen it, so…I got nothing. He’s kind of the opposite of Jack Frost, I guess.

  • It’s been years since I saw it and I’ve been avoiding a rewatch due to how much I disliked what I saw. However, as I recall this flick continues on long after (narratively speaking) it made the most sense to end. Real waste of both a good idea and a creepy little song they had attached to it.

Oh, edited to add I did like it better than both Jack Frost movies (serial killer and Keaton, never saw sequel). Which should tell you my opinion of them…

You’d be surprised at what can happen in a shaving accident.

  • Rock Baker

I did a Video Cheese review of it, but I haven’t posted it yet, I don’t think. Seems like it was passable as an evening’s entertainment if one isn’t too choosy, but nothing to write home about aside from keeping track of the ways in which it attempted a Kruger-ish character. I mainly remember that they introduced the fact that water dissolves him and then completely sidestep that in favor of a rather more complicated attempt to flash-burn him. You’d think that were for the purposes of having a cool ending where his glass form was spectacularly shattered into a million pieces, but you’d be wrong!

  • The Rev.

I saw this so long ago I don’t remember much at all about it; I don’t recall thinking it was too great at the time overall. I’d maybe give it another look.

I rather like the first Jack Frost, although I’ll readily admit it’s pretty bad. The sequel is rather worse, so don’t bother. I haven’t seen the Keaton one, nor do I plan to.

Opposite of Jack Frost? Heat Miser?

    He’s Mr. Green Christmas

    He’s Mr. Sun.

    He’s Mr. Heat Blister,

    He’s Mr. Hundred and One!

  • Eric Hinkle

Please tell me, Mister Baker, just what move is this?

  • Eric Hinkle

    Thank you, sir.

Sad to say, I never even heard of this movie before.

  • Gamera977

The movie didn’t put you to sleep did it?

  • It didn’t for me. Just made me want to put it to sleep.

I think I’ll go ahead and use this one as this month’s movie review over on Baker’s Log. The piece I was working on for this month’s review was growing rather larger than I’d intended anyway. I’ll post my reflections on the film within the next couple weeks, I guess.

  • Eric Hinkle

I’ll be looking forward to that review.

  • Gamera977

    Same here.
