Monster of the Day #1147

This guy, like Groot or Fin Fang Foom, got incorporated into the larger Marvel universe, especially as an early Defenders villain.

He wasn’t my favorite, but you can always tell a Gil Kane piece right off.

Is the Titan wearing a belt?

  • Clearly they’ve missed a step here with the naming. That guy’s obviously an Titanoso.
Just imagine the awe that would inspire. The terror. The oso.

On a different topic: Fin Fang Foom. Now there’s a name. Plus he’s the greatest dragon like alien ever to wear purple swim trunks.

Seriously. It’s like the competition isn’t even there.

Truck crushing…is that a union rule?
“You can smash the city, but you have to crush at least two trucks.”
    “Two trucks? An particular reason?”
“The Evil Overlord who’s paying us runs a bunch of Freightliner dealerships on the side.”

  • Beckoning Chasm

The two people in front seem far more terrified of the reader. “OMG, I’ve never seen so much acne!”

  • bgbear_rnh

I like to crush trucks and I can not lie

    You other monsters can’t deny

That when a truck drives by with at a leisurely pace

And exhaust fumes in your face

    You get sprung

    Wanna pull up tough

’cause you notice that truck was stuffed

  • bgbear_rnh

    Oso? did someone call?

  • Eric Hinkle

Ah, good old Xemnu the Titan, who ended up with his own TV show and tried kidnapping the audience of kiddies back home so he could use them to repopulate his race. Somehow. Man but Marvel loved their weird and funny stories back then.

  • rtpoeman

Those two people falling… Where are they falling *from*? The truck door’s not open…

  • Luke Blanchard

They had a special reason for bringing Xemnu into the Marvel U. He was originally called the Hulk! Later, the name was taken by that other guy.

  • bgbear_rnh

They are falling for that big hunk of sexy monster ;-)

  • Eric Hinkle

That reminds me of all the times in the 70’s that the Jolly Green Giant (the Hulk, that is) beat up on the old Marvel monsters.
