Monster of the Day #1126

“We’re going to need two football field-sized graham crackers and a truly big-ass Hersey’s bar, stat!”*

[*Congratulate me, because I’m pretty sure no one else has ever made that joke.]

I wonder at the response when ‘Ghostbusters’ first played in Japan: ‘You Yanks call that a Kaiju!?!’

Godzilla would have turned him into a toasted marshmallow.

  • Flangepart

Stay Puff Vs. Gorgo! A fan vid. that must be made! (Gorgo has no fire breath, so it’ll last longer.)

  • Gamera977

Great, now I see Gorgo chowing down on the Stay-Puff and going berserk on a sugar rush!

I did picture Stay-Puff duking it out with Gypsy Danger- now that would be a riot.

  • CaptNemo

Captain Nemo look down at Ken’s order of graham crackers and chocolate and says to himself;”there’s something you don’t see everyday.”

  • SteveWD

I’ve always thought that was a particularly good fx shot. I mean, it’s completely ridiculous but it’s also complete convincing.

By the way, anyone play the Ghostbusters video game on the 360/PS3 from a few years back. I thoroughly enjoyed it and now that Harold Ramis is gone, it’s the closest thing to another “real” Ghostbusters sequel we’re gonna get.

Death by cute would probably resonate in Japan. For many in Japan Hello Kitty would probably be the “form of The Destructor”.

  • Gamera977

    Death by Kawaii?

  • The Rev.

When I finally get a PS3, that was on the short list for games to get ASAP. Heard some good things about it.

I think the quality of this sequence is what helps sell such a goofy-ass monster. On a related note, Stantz’ deadpan, “It’s the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man” is one of my favorite lines in that movie, of which there are many.

I know not everyone digs this movie, but I sure do. For me, it still holds up as entertaining to this day.

“Guys, Ray has gone bye-bye. Anyone else got any ideas?”

“Sorry, Venkman. I’m terrified beyond the capacity for rational thought.”

  • Gamera977

I remember the old Ghostbusters game for the Commodore 64 but didn’t buy it. I think it was mostly driving around and snarfing up ghosts with Ecto-1 for cash till you had enough to go to the end game.

  • Rodford Smith

“I keep hitting him, but my fist just sinks in and pops back out!”

  • Rodford Smith

What was it with Ghostbusters and food? You had Stay-Puft and Slimer gorging himself in this one. In the sequel we had the Twinkie simile. There’s probably others.
