Monster of the Day #1096

Toho made three pretty similar movies, although sadly I can’t find a good still for Secret of the Telegian. This is the only one commercially available on DVD.

  • Gamera977

Ok, this one I’ve seen- and pretty creepy it is.

  • Flangepart

Huh. I’d have said THE H-MAN. Old Vasaline on balloon trick for the effect, as I recall.
It’s Toho week guys. Not a bad thing.

  • Beckoning Chasm

    “Hail, hail, fire and snow….”

  • Ericb

I’ve always wondered what flavor blue-green cotton candy was meant to represent.

  • Dabbling in the anime scene has left the title The H Man with an entirely different meaning for me.

I love older film that when they decide to shell out for color, they really make sure things are colorful. They red dress and green couch are a nice touch.

  • rtpoeman

Agreed. Check out some of the costume dramas from the 50s, like Scaramouche, with their wonderfully rich palette of hues. Seems the only crayons today’s movies have are Chilly Cyan and Explosion Orange….

  • bgbear_rnh

That is exactly part of what made “Guardians of the Galaxy” such a welcomed change. “Fifth Element” was the last action adventure film I recall that did something similar.

  • Rock Baker

It never saw American distribution, but I understand Toho also did an invisible man movie during their black and white years.

  • bgbear_rnh

You never saw the Toho invisible man? I think that is the idea ;)

  • bgbear_rnh

Saw “The H-man” as a kid and for years could not find a reference to the film. It would have helped if I had not been looking for “The 8th Man”. That eventually lead to a confusion of what “8 Man” had to do with the blob-like creature.

  • Eric Hinkle

H-Man! I still remember the Japanese cut of the scene where H-Man ate that one lovely dancer.

  • The Rev.

I’ve had this on DVD and still not watched it. What the hell is wrong with me?
Even worse, the same goes for Dogora.

  • Flangepart

I do wish Dogora was remade, without the stupid diamond plot. A giant levitating jellyfish monster is really all you need.
