Vic Hugo’s lesser known work…bet it should stay that way…

  • Luke Blanchard

Apparently there have been several film versions of the novel, beginning in the silent era.
Hugo was a remarkably good artist, and drew a picture of an octopus himself. Wikipedia’s page on TOILERS represents it as a depiction of the novel’s octopus, but I don’t know if that’s certain.

I recall the musical, ” Les Trav’ ” as the hipsters called it:

Deep down, and feel the tentacles grab your feet
Deep down and use your strength if you can
    Deep down and hold
    The dagger in your teeth
    Deep down, deep down,
    You’re in big trouble man!

Ask any mermaid if you gotta pee,
    “Where can I go ma’am”?
    ‘Toilets of the sea’.

  • Beckoning Chasm

That’s probably the most accurate-looking octopus we’ve seen here.

  • Look! That Octopus is trying to teach the man the salsa!
