Monster of the Day #1077

“I said, ‘No tickee, NO SHIRTIE!

  • Acethepug

Ah! Another Baker-era one! The Homonculus(?) from “The Talons of Weng-Chiang,” if I remember right. And another Leela one, as well. Didn’t the little guy have a pig’s brain?

  • Gamera977

Yeah, the brain of a pig, for some reason that really stuck with me. And the Doctor in the deerstalker cap.

  • Flangepart

    Nailed it in one.
Tom Baker was my first Dr. I also like Sylvester McCoy.
I always loved it when the Dr. made fun of a villains rants. It’s a lack of grand ego that makes a hero, to me. Kinda like Chris Reeves Superman.

  • Beckoning Chasm

This was the very first Doctor Who episode I ever saw. I seriously doubt you’d be able to make this story today.

Robert Holmes was the best writer Doctor Who ever had.

  • Ericb

Doctor Who was at its peak when Philip Hinchcliffe was the producer and Robert Holms the script editor. Unfortunately they maybe pushed the envelope too far for their time slot and didn’t last very long.

  • David Fullam

    Mister Sin.

  • bgbear_rnh

I guess I’ll have little input this week. Forgive me Jabootu, for I have sinned. I HAVE NEVER WATCHED A SINGLE EPISODE OF DR WHO.

Ok, I got that off my chest ;)

  • Gamera977

Yeah, my first exposure to the series was way back when the SF Channel ran them starting with ‘Robot’ though the ‘Key of Time’ season. Must have been around the early ’90s. IMHO the highlight of the series.

  • Gamera977

I envy you sir on still getting to enjoy them for the first time!

  • bgbear_rnh

    Life is short ;)

  • Flangepart

Ah, ROBOT…home of my fave. Brigidere quote.
“Just once, I’d like to meet an extraterrestrial menace that wasn’t impervious to bullets.”

  • Best writer and most influential. They were copying Holmes for years.

  • Rock Baker

The Mummy of Fu Manchu…. I feel a script taking shape….

  • rtpoeman

Played by Deep Roy, who has been acting quite regularly since the 1970s…
