Monster of the Day #1071

“…in Boredom!”

The Golden Rule of Schlock Filmmakers: If your movie sucks, make sure your poster is cool. And bonus points if you can blatantly rip off one of the most famous film posters of all time.

Um…why is that blond making me channel the word ‘skank?’ It ain’t DEVIL FEESH- uh, FISH…is it?

  • The Rev.

I’ve yet to see Up From the Depths, mostly because Dr. Freex’s review left me disinclined to bother. Still, I’m sure I’ll get to it someday.

If the monster had looked like this instead of a mutated bullhead/grouper mix I might’ve gotten to it sooner…

Sam Bottoms in Up From The Depths ? There should be a pun in there somewhere.

  • bgbear_rnh

Was he safer on a boat with this critter or Martin Sheen?

  • David Fullam

May still be the worst Jaws cash in ever.

BOTTOMS UP FROM THE DEPTHS…A horror comedy by Ted V. Mikles.

Can anyone provide some clues as to wha makes this movie so bad? I’ve barely even heard of it. Is it just generic ‘boring-bad’, or ‘mind-boggling in its stupidity’ bad?

  • Rock Baker

Boring bad, which is something of a mystery considering everything we’re offered. A giant, prehistoric fish monster munching on islanders should be fairly entertaining, and I expected a lot more from Charles Griffith’s stewardship. But the film is instead of the so-boring-it’s-completely-forgettable variety. Let me put it this way, it makes TENTACLES come across as slam-bang excitement.

  • Ken_Begg

    Ha! So true.

  • Eric Hinkle

Wow, this one sounds like a bizarre masterpiece.

  • Marcus

There’s something cordlike sticking out into the stream of bubbles on Blondie’s left, suggesting either that 1)Devilfish’s ugly brother has an anglerfish-like growth on its head or 2)we’re about a half-second away from seeing b00bies.

  • The Rev.

To me, it looks like one of the spiny horn-like growths along its body.

However, I could also see it being the string of her bikini.
