Monster of the Day #1049

Ah, that’s the stuff!

  • kgb_san_diego

I must know — who is this handsome fellow?

  • Flangepart

“Where’s the stinkin’ camera…oh. Can’t see crap between these teeth…”

  • David Fullam

Second season Space 1999 must die.

  • bgbear_rnh

Is it one of the beasties Maya(sp) changed into on Space:1999?

  • Ericb

I remember this episode. She was actually trying to infiltrate a group of these things. It took them a while to figure it out. Not the brightest of monsters apparently.

  • Eric Hinkle

Wait now, you’re saying this is actually a beautiful woman? I’m guessing that Maya was a shapeshifter?

  • bgbear_rnh

Yes, and her father was Brian Blesssssed!

  • Beckoning Chasm

The one episode I saw had her being hunted by aliens called Dorcons (led by Patrick Troughton, no less). To try and escape, she turned into a potted plant. That’s all I remember.

  • Rock Baker

I can’t say I understand your thinking, David. The second season was essentially a British version of Star Trek, considerably more enjoyable than the bland first season. The differences between the two seasons can be summed up by their opening themes, the first being somber and the second charging.

  • bgbear_rnh

and they found a new tailor somewhere out in space ;)

  • David Fullam

Sorry, I hated it with a passion and always will. if I want the real Star Trek, that’s what I’ll watch.

  • Rock Baker

Fortunately, yes. Those first season uniforms never did look very good to my eye. Oh, I can sort of see what they were going for, but my brain demands a bit of symmetry when it comes to uniforms!

  • Flangepart

Dorcons…and the British fans wondered why the Yanks all snickered.

  • Luke Blanchard

Maya herself was Catherine Schell, who played Claudine Litton in THE RETURN OF THE PINK PANTHER. She was also the Countess Scarlioni in the DOCTOR WHO story “City of Death”, one of the hypnotised women at Blofeld’s facility in ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE, and (moving into Jabootu territory) the heroine in MOON ZERO TWO.

  • Marsden

I believe it did in 1977.

  • Jimmy

    He looks so happy!

  • BobTanaka

Mortimer Snerd in “The Bat People”

  • Gamera977

I dunno, I’m a big Martin Landau fan but 1999 just always left me cold. Can’t say I really hated it or anything but like ST: Voyager and Enterprise it just put me to sleep.
