    So, a story about a city where gorillas rule and men serve? Sounds oddly familiar. And I wonder if this story has a scene of one of the gorillas grinding an organ while a human in some silly costume holding a cup capers mirthfully beside him?

    Ken, why did we seem to go up to 1042 and then back to the 1030s?
    I love how baby smooth and clean those “slaves” look while being threatened with a whip! It’s like the whip has never touched any of them, ever!

    The whole unscarred slaves (or whatever) look was pretty standard back then. Even Margaret Brundage’s most infamous covers for Weird Tales had a minimum of actual blood and scars, despite all the whips and restraints in use. That said, some of the interior art I’ve seen for the pulps could get downright repulsive.
