Monster of the Day #1040

I have a better one left, but I’m running low on lunchboxes and didn’t want to end on something this weak. Seriously, though, you could get the rights to Shatner, but not the Gorn or Salt Monster or anything?

No, no, the Phantom’s mother-in-law is fine. Really.

And just to be a narcissist, it’s my birthday. Whee!

  • kgb_san_diego

    Your birthday is on #1040 — that’s ominous…

    Seriously, happy birthday, Ken!

  • Flangepart

Also, Kirk is using a…maybe Klingon communicator?
Happy Birthday, Ken. May all your MoD be memorable!

    Kirk or Picard?
JAMES T. KIRK: Cause sometimes the universe just needs a good ass whuppin!

  • Ericb

The communicator looks like a pack of cigarettes to me. It also looks like Spock it trying to ward off the alien with his long live an prosper hand gesture. Whoever drew this probably never even watched the show.

  • bgbear_rnh

I recommend that Nomad sanitize the entire scene, it’s the only way to be sure.

  • bgbear_rnh

    Happy Birthday Ken.

    51?

  • Beckoning Chasm

Happy birthday, Ken! And yeah, that is one awful bit of art. The artist must have thought the Vulcan hand gesture was some kind of kung fu, and he clearly painted a Super Friends villain where the Klingon should go.

  • Beckoning Chasm

Also, is that sun-thing supposed to be the planet-killer?

  • Happy birthday!

  • Rock Baker

A very Happy Birthday to you, Ken! God bless you, and thank you for everything. You’ve actually had quite an impact upon my life! I credit you and your site with bringing me out of my shell, internet-wise, for providing a place and community to express ideas and share information I otherwise would’ve kept to myself and a few family members unfortunate enough to hear my ramblings. It’s also no secret your reviews have been my greatest inspiration in doing my own reviews, which is to say I flat out copied you in many respects. Blessings upon you, my friend. Have a great Birthday!

  • Ken_Begg

Yep, on the downside of a century, now.

  • Ken_Begg

Ha, you’ve done a lot more for me than I’ve done for you, my friend, but I appreciate your warm and generous sentiments.

  • Happy birthday Ken! Hope another Super-Friends review is in the works.

  • Joliet Jake Blues

Happy Birthday Mr Begg. You have brought me much pleasure in the 15 years I have been visiting here.
Why does Kirk have a Hitler mustache? Is it like Mirror Kirk, but with a bad mirror?

  • Flangepart

HAH! I’LL be 59 this Jan 12th. Same B-day as Rush Limbaugh and HAL 9000…And I’m okay with that, Oh callow youth!

  • GalaxyJane

Happy Birthday Ken! Good health and many more years of joy!

  • Gamera977

Indeed, guess I’m a little late here but but happy B-day to you Ken!

  • Eric Hinkle

Happy Birthday, Mister Begg, and may Jabootu grant many a healthy and joyous return of the day.

  • Beckoning Chasm

I figured it out! This is the lunchbox for the Turkish Star Trek.

  • The Rev.

Wow, I’d forgotten your birthday was so close to my lady’s. Happy birthday, buddy! I hope you did something fun, or will this weekend perhaps.

  • Chefe O’Hara

Happy Birthday, Mr. Begg! I usually read your recaps and MotDs, although I usually stay silent. I started with the old site’s ones, and haven’t still finished them!

    Keep up the good work!

  • Luke Blanchard

    Happy birthday, Ken.
The floating machine seems to be based on Nomad from “The Changeling”.

  • Marsden

That’s actually M4, the robot servant of Mr. Flint.
They used parts from Nomad to build him, so there’s that.

  • Marsden

Happy Birthday, Ken! Hope it’s a good one, be safe and happy.

  • Rodford Smith

You sure that’s not the cloaking device? :-)

(Yes, some of the same parts were recycled for that, too.)

  • Marsden

Also, I really don’t want to defend this lunchbox, but… there was an alien that somewhat looked like that in and animated Star Trek episode called Mudd’s Passion. Yes, Harry Mudd is in it. His third appearance.
I watch too much Star Trek?

  • Marsden

Strange to say with all of the strangeness, but that really is a good picture of M4. I wonder how many other things they build with Nomad’s “corpse” ha. I admire recycling, especially if it means something gets made as opposed to cancelled.

  • bgbear_rnh

Oh well, I also said “sanitize” instead of “sterilize” and I call myself a Star Trek fan.
