Monster of the Day #988

Mr. Randall was shocked when his performance was panned.

(Just a taste of what I’m bringing to Texas this weekend.)

I wish my brother Torgo was here.

  • Ericb

I bet he’s the one who wrote the “Torgo theme” and played it constantly just to annoy his brother.

  • Flangepart

Hermes wanted the part, but Pan horned in on the roll, and made his point with the producers.

  • bgbear_rnh

That must have got Hermes’ goat.

One of Hollywood’s most successful choreographers and dance directors was named Hermes Pan (shortened from Panagiotopoulos). He worked on pretty much all the Fred Astaire / Ginger Rogers movies, as well as Kiss Me Kate, Meet Me in St. Louis and My Fair Lady.

Sadly, one of his gigs in a 40 plus career was to stage and choreograph the legendary bomb musical remake of Lost Horizon.

You get the feeling they burned every print of that film. I caught maybe 15 minutes of it once on HBO back when HBO didn’t run 24/7 and have never seen it broadcasts since.

It looks like someone has it on youtube.

  • He used to practice at home until his neighbors asked him to pipe down.

  • Ken_Begg

It is officially available on DVD-R. I think I have a copy of it floating around somewhere.

  • Flangepart

And he wern’t just whistlin’ Dixie.

  • bgbear_rnh

I’ll have to think about getting a copy.

I do not think the MST3K Rifftrax guys have ever done a real musical.
