Monster of the Day #983

Man, that’s purty.

It is indeed, but it’s sure hard to know what’s going on. It looks like the moss-monster is rushing up the side of a hill. A web search for “Trail of the Astrogar” was less than revealing.

“Gar” makes me think of a species of fish and a space going gar fish would be scary.

Lovely art, but it almost looks like she’s being eaten by a giant dust bunny.

and you wonder how the Japanese came up with all that weird anime stuff?

very reminiscent of the Raquel Welch antibody scene in Fantastic Voyage.

Hedorah’s grandfather sowing his “wild oats”….

Oh, I’m making this into a movie! It MUST happen!

And the author? Named after a form of Avacado.

I just learned “Trail of the Astrogar” was reprinted early last year in a double novel volume by a publisher called Armchair Fiction. There’s a brief description of it at Tom McNulty’s blog “Dispatches from the Last Outlaw” in a post dated Sep. 13 2014. I’ve not read Henry Hasse’s work. A few of his stories can be found online.
