Monster of the Day #980

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…no.

  • Ericb

Is that the French poster for Devilfish?

  • SteveWD

Judging from the Michael Sofkiw and the…. ahem, “John Old Jr” credit, I would say yes. At least now I know where the concept for the Kraken in the awful Clash of the Titans remake came from.

  • Flangepart

Yup. Same cast list, same poster if you google ‘devil fish cast list.’
    Still a good MST3K.

  • SteveWD

“Our special tonight is Devil Fish, with satanic string beans and deep lucifered potatoes.” Love that episode.

Thanks, I thought it may be the French poster for “Key Largo” and was thinking , yes, that is way off.

You don’t like it, do you Rocco, the storm? Show it your gun, why don’t you? If it doesn’t stop, shoot it

If I hadn’t seen Devilfish, this poster would put in #1 in my Netflix queue. Alas, I have seen it.

  • Gamera977

Guess I’m off to check out the MST3K episode this long weekend! If I’ve seen it I’ve forgotten about it.

  • I don’t care if the odds of them being real are almost nonexistent. Creatures like that are the reason why I stay away from the ocean. And lakes. And rivers. And wading pools.

  • Rock Baker

For what it’s worth, the face of the beast is actually pretty accurate. Still, this is far more dynamic than what the movie offers!

Everything is relative, however. This was still a better (at least more exciting/entertaining) movie than TENTACLES (which had everything going for it, from a great cast to fairly high production values -it was just incredibly boring).

  • bgbear_rnh

Looking again. The two guys near the “LE”. Where are they falling from?

  • Beckoning Chasm

The monster was probably carrying them around before. When it saw the boat, it dropped them so it could grab that instead.

  • Eric Hinkle

And I bet it loses both, doesn’t it? Devilfish should have remembered Aesop’s fable about the dog and the reflection of his bone. Ah, so many monsters, ruined by their greed.

  • The Rev.

I actually figured out what it was because of the beastie’s mouth, which is pretty accurate.

Yeah, this one is more fun-bad, unlike Tentacles which is just dull, although that nighttime attack scene is pretty well done. Too bad both movies went and whacked an octopus. At least this one didn’t drag it out for minutes on end.
