Monster of the Day #965

Bite his shiny metal ass!

  • Flangepart

    BENDER- THE EARLY CENTURIES!
Yeah…first line I thought of Ken.

So, It’s V.T.T.B.O.T.S., NOT blobs as we suspected, you sneaky devil.

  • Ken_Begg

Hey, if they had done enough blob monsters on Voyage, I would have done both!

Sadly, I don’t know if there are five blob monsters left. I’ve done a lot of them in the past.

  • Beckoning Chasm

Have the first two Quatermass films been covered? I can’t remember. They had blobs.

  • Ken_Begg

I’m pretty sure, but man, I really need to run up a list of the entries.

  • Flangepart

Two Brian Dovlevy’s had blobs. Then another one ate that guy who made Tom Servo sing “Slyvia’s mother…”

  • bgbear_rnh

    does the H-man thing count?

  • bgbear_rnh

In that first panel, Admiral Nelson looks like a TV, sorry robot, repairman reluctantly telling the customer how much he is going to have to pay in repairs. It helps that in “He Walked by Night” Basehart plays an electronics repairman.

  • Beckoning Chasm

    Well, there’s always Fred Dukes….

  • Rock Baker

Cool! I love an old fashioned robot!

  • Rock Baker

There was that blob thing in FIRST SPACESHIP ON VENUS (although I don’t know if it, or any of these others, has already been MOTD’d), The Smog Monster, that thing in CREEPSHOW 2, ummmm….. Hmmmmmm………

  • bgbear_rnh

X-Files had a few blobby things IIRC.

Hey speaking of X-files, isn’t that a source of MOTD? I suppose TV in general has remained mostly untapped.

  • zombiewhacker

Has X The Unknown been covered?

  • Rock Baker

X-Files centered more on conspiracy than bug-eyed monsters. While it served up a few over the years, I don’t know how many good pix there might be of any of them.

  • Chris Metzinger

Two of my favorite classic robot hallmarks: dryer hose n duct tape limbs and that obviously flexible “metal” mini-skirt! Love it.

  • Flangepart

Yup. Man (And woman) eating self propelled mucus. That be your average blob.

  • Acethepug

“Angry Red Planet” had an ocean-sized blob, if it helps.

  • Gamera977

Same as ‘Solaris’. To be honest have only read the novel and haven’t seen either movie version.

  • Jamie B.

I had to sit through the Russian version of Solaris in class. Dull and overly long, like most Russian movies.
