Bubba-NO-Tep…

Well, that kills it.  Seen at Mania.com this morning:

“Due to creative differences with the director, actor Bruce Campbell will not be reprising his cult role in BUBBA NOSFERATU AND THE CURSE OF THE SHE-VAMPIRES, says HorrorMovies.ca. The actor appeared on Fangoria radio after there have been rumors the actor was the reason the sequel was stalling. Finally, Campbell cut to the chase on the rumors and explained about the creative differences…

[BUBBA NOSFERATU] is dead to me,” Campbell said flatly. “It sleeps with the fishes. Don Coscarelli is a very passionate filmmaker. We got to a few points [developing the screenplay] that we couldn’t reconcile. I want to keep our friendship, so we parted ways. So I’m not part of that project.”

Wow, that’s a shame. Neither of those two have particularly come off like megalomaniacs; I wonder what they’re butting heads over??

  • The Rev. D.D.

Damn. First I hear of this sequel and it’s really bad news. I’d have gladly plunked down for a sequel sight unseen; now, I’d rent it first. I like Coscarelli’s work, but sequels without the same actors that helped make the original work? Generally a bad sign.
Campbell isn’t a megalomaniac, but based on the books he’s written about his life, he does feel very passionately about his craft, and tends to butt heads with people over differences in creative opinion.

I had mixed feelings aboutt his sequel (Or was it a prequel?) as I liked the oriignal but I wasn’t sure there was potential for more. That said, without Bruce there is no sequel as I’m concerned.
