Monster of the Day #843

Oddly, on the entire Interwebs I couldn’t find a good Seaview / Godzilla mash-up. However, here’s one that every monster kids wonders about until they hit the age where they understand intellectual property (which is the day a little bit of us dies).

Still, if Superman can star in a comic with Spider-Man….

  • Reed

I once read in interview with comic artist George Perez when he was drawing both The Avengers for Marvel and the Justice League for DC. He said that he really wanted to do an Avengers/Justice League crossover so he could have someone call the Justice League a bunch of Squadron Supreme wannabes. I guess someone heard him, because not only did the crossover books actually occur they included the joke! Sadly the delivery in the comic was too long and detracted from the comedy value. Probably a case of over-thinking it.
As a side note: I love George Perez’ art, but I have no idea how he was drawing the flagship teams for the big competitors at the same time. That just seems unlikely.

How about a story where the Superfriends join forces with the Legion of Doom to fight The Avengers.

  • Gamera977

‘No more patty-cake Big-G- you play too rough!’

  • Flangepart

    T-Rex: “Oh, shi- I’ll just sneak out the back way…over here…REAL quick…”

  • bgbear_rnh

Mothra will put a stop to this nonsense.

  • Ericb

They should do Rodan vs. Gaos as well.

  • Luke Blanchard

He started working for DC in 1980 and took over Justice League of America when its longtime artist Dick Dillin died. His first two issues on that title overlapped on the stands with his final two Avengers ones.

  • It looks like Gamera’s cracking up over a joke Godzilla just told him..

  • Flangepart

Godzilla: “Okay, okay…two dinosaurs walk into a bar…”
    Gamera: “I love that one!”

  • Eric Hinkle

“So, two giant monsters both attack Tokyo on the same day, and…”

  • Rock Baker

The JURASSIC PARK type Tyrannosaurus just seems out of place…..

  • The Rev.

Yeah, I’m not sure what that’s doing there.

I’m also trying to figure out what those two things in the background are. (The thing to the right of Mothra and the thing on the right among that green cloud or whatever that is.)

Man, I would love to see a GvG fight…and then to save the earth they have to team up and fight off Gyaos, Barugon, Queen Legion, Gigan, Biollante and King Ghidorah. Maybe throw in a humanity-powered MechaGodzilla and MechaGamera to balance out the sides a little.

  • The thing right of Mothra reminds me of Orga from Godzilla 2000

  • The Rev.

Mmmm…that could be the spaceship from that. I could go with that.

  • Rock Baker

I think that might be a mangled skyscraper, although it does favor Orga.

  • The Rev.

No, the thing up and to the right of Mothra appears to be something hovering under its own power (there’s a light coming down from it). The thing I’m seeing on the far right, above the flare in the green area, could conceivably be a smoke cloud from the ruined skyscrapers; to me, though, it looks like something else (if anything, it kind of looks like Deathghidorah coming at us head-on).

  • Luke Blanchard

The Statue of Liberty can be seen above Godzilla’s nose. I think that’s King Kong to its right, just left of the green area.

  • Reed

Yo, Rev, are you going to put up a recap of T-Fest 2013? Since we’re approaching Tween Fest and all…
    No pressure.

  • The Rev.

*sigh* I’m hoping to get both the fest write-ups for 2013 to Ken before TwF2K14, but I can’t guarantee it. I still haven’t even gotten all the images I wanted to use to Ken for the “who cares at this point?” TF2K12 write-up. I probably should’ve just let him pick stuff for it and post it a long time ago.

I won’t be making that mistake with the 2013 pieces; no images on my end since they’re taking long enough as it is. Ken is welcome to do so, as he has in the past.
