Monster of the Day #838

These aren’t as big as I like ’em, so here’s a batch.

  • Flangepart

    Pic 1: “eggo my egg-o!”

Pic 2: “Woah, sorry about the poot Mr. Honda. I blame bad sushi.”

Pic 3: “Fine, there’s your scarifice, spider ghod. Can we finish the flick now, we’re over budget as it is!”

    Pic 4: Bugs- “Hellooo-Hellooo-hello!”
G- “Knock off the Stooges bit, it’s time to rumble!”
Pic 5: “Crap! I got a wire caught in my naughty bits!”

  • Ericb

You know passing that egg must be pretty painful for the Godzilla species.

  • Ken_Begg

Mrs. Godzilla: “And where have you been all this time? Out drinking with your bum friend Anguirus, no doubt.”
Godzilla: “Sorry I need a little downtime! I’ve been catching laser beams from that bastard Ghidrah all morning, while you’ve been lounging around…”
Mrs. Godzilla: “You want to talk about pain?! Try…”
    Godzilla (mutters): “Here we go….”
Mrs. Godzilla: “…laying an egg the size of….”

  • bgbear_rnh

Mrs. Godzilla: “I should have listened to my mother and married Gamera”

  • It might be the size of the pictures, but I love how you can’t see the wires. It looks like someone went out and hired a trio of giant mantises to wrestle with Haruo Nakajima for a few hours.

  • sandra

Are these all from the same movie ?

  • Yep! All Son of Godzilla

  • Flangepart

    “TOKYO!” Rim-shot.

  • Ken_Begg

Starring Roseanne Barr and Brad Garrett.

  • Gamera977

    Whazzit!?!?!

  • Ericb

It’ll be the Japanese equivalent of the Munsters.

  • Gamera977

I am holding out for Joe Don Baker to play me…

  • bgbear_rnh

    Gee gee gee gee Gamera
    What do your Mama say?
    What would she do
    if she knew you
were flyin’ round and carryin’ on that way…
Snappin’ some power lines, so you can dine
and knockin’ down the minature sets…
Do you think you are some kind of a star like Godzilla on the movie screen?…

  • Ken_Begg

It’s a repurposed version of the Mitchell (MITCHELL!) theme song.

  • Rock Baker

    Oh, this is beautiful stuff!

  • The Rev.

Four and five are fantastic. Purely fantastic.

You can tell they’re fantastic because they’re distracting me from the Kumonga one. God, I love Kumonga. I couldn’t find a way to work Kumonga into my probably-never-finished Godzilla script, which made me sad.

Not as sad as what happened to Kumonga in Final Wars, granted…of course that went for pretty much every monster in that mess.

  • Flangepart

GODZILLA: FINAL WARS, the stew pot plot of the whole G series.

  • Ken_Begg

Ugh, that whole Matrix plot that eats up most of the running time makes that film nearly unwatchable. The Rev is right, Son of Godzilla is great because the people plot is nearly as good as the monster stuff (which is VERY good). The whole weather experiment thing is very fun, and the jungle girl, etc. The same with Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster.

    Final Wars, not so much.

  • Gamera977

    Ahah!

That Bgbear is a thing of beauty and elegance, kudos sir!

  • Gamera977

Well, if you watch it as a Matrix type movie with Kaiju elements it’s more tolerable… still I was really disappointed with this one too.

  • The Rev.

As I’ve said in the past, if I’d wanted to watch a movie about mutant alien ninjas, I’d have bought a movie about mutant alien ninjas. Talk about your false advertising. (Similarly, if I want to watch a Matrix-type movie, I’ll just watch The Matrix.)

Ken is dead on about Final Wars. I don’t know that I’ll ever watch that in its entirety again, and I don’t see much point in skipping to the two or three decent monster scenes when I can watch something like Ghidorah the Three-Headed Monster or, well, Son of Godzilla, and get the total Godzilla experience, no skipping around required.

  • Rodford Smith

    Okay, second try…:

It does have a few good moments.

“You’re going to fly to the Arctic, thaw out Godzilla, lead him to Tokyo to defeat the aliens, then lead him back to the Arctic and freeze him again.”

    “Yep.”

    (Heavily paraphrased. :-)
