Monster of the Day #813

You may not have gleaned this in the past, but I like killer octopi.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I’m finally caught up with all the Matt Smith Doctor Who stuff. I’m sure I’m not the only one thinking Smith is really just hitting his stride now (it’s the longer jacket), and it’s a shame he’s not hanging around for another year. That being said, I am REALLY excited to see where they go with Peter Capaldi.

The Day of the Doctor was pretty good, especially given the crazy workaround they had to do because Christopher Eccleston has just flat out disassociated himself with the show. Man, that guy must have really been shellshocked by the whole thing. I sometimes wonder if Tom Baker regrets not joining in on The Five Doctors, maybe in years to come Eccleston will regret a bit not being part of this show. Still, John Hurt. Nothing wrong with that.

We just saw 20,000 leagues under the sea again over the holiday. Great squid action! If you have the chance and have the right DVD, check out the “sunset squid scene”. THey did the fight on calm waters during the sunset, and it was not nearly as effective. They made the right choice by adding teh storm.

darn, beat me to that. It is like going to 11 in the fish sticking business.

“hot” So, I assume that means not really all that high on the Fahrenheit scale but, Pravda pushed it to encourage Northern immigration.

The way she’s holding that thing, it looks like she might bejabber her boyfriend if she’s not careful. “Help me, honey! Help me — ARRRRGH! On second thought don’t help me!”

Or ‘hot, as in radioactive. Cold War, and all that.

The Dorothy Lamour movie we sadly never got! Although, I supposed ROAD TO BALI comes within shouting distance.

I remember Baker saying on one of the DVD audio commentaries that he does regret not participating in The Five Doctors. The difference between him and Eccleston is that while Baker loved and was proud of the role and was just temporarily piqued at the producers at the time Eccleston seems to despise the show and never misses a chance to distance himself from it.
