Monster of the Day #797

Halloween Week, so a bit of nostalgia seems to be called for.

  • Gamera977

Hmmmm, seems like time for an update with the creepy critters gathered around a monitor checking out this website!

  • bgbear_rnh

Shouldn’t they be reading “Little Lulu” ?

  • Ken_Begg

Drawn by the great Jack Davis, who is still alive at 88. Good on him.

  • sandra

No dissing Little Lulu ! She was my favorite comic heroine.

  • Ken_Begg

Little Lulu was pretty sweet, from what little I’ve seen of it. Nancy and Sluggo, not so much for me.

Anyone who hasn’t read Herbie though…for the love of Pete, dig up the reprint books ASAP!

  • bgbear_rnh

I was making a lame “Munsters” type joke were everything is opposite, oh never mind, if you have to explain the joke. . .

  • Flangepart

Wasn’t Uncle Creepy inspired by John Zackerly, the ‘cool ghoul?’

  • Rock Baker

I saw a recent item on Brad Harris, the star of KONG ISLAND you noted would have made a perfect Doc Savage. He’s 80 and still looks exactly like he did in ’67!

  • zombiewhacker

I was really big on Creepy and Eerie back in the day, though for some reason I never got into Vampirella. (I dare you to make a pun there. I DOUBLE dare you.)

  • Ken_Begg

I’m the same way. I don’t think Vampirella ever had the gothic period that made Creepy and Eerie so fabulous. It went right into the more sci-fi oriented stuff where the other magazines headed after Goodwin left.

  • zombiewhacker

    When did Goodwin leave?
