Monster of the Day #780

Not the most suspenseful week, true. Still, even if I never really ate the cereal, I’ll take this guy over, say, the Monster from Van Helsing anyday.

And judging from his head gear…Steampunk Frankie?

  • Gamera977

Did anyone ever do a Gillman cereal that tasted like fish? Probably would have sold great in Japan.

  • Ericb

They would have made it lime flavored.

  • Gamera977

    Actually lemon-lime sounds pretty good!

  • Ericb

The citrus fruits are woefully underrepresented in the cereal world.

  • Flangepart

    Aw, that’s just sour grapes.

I do recall some commercials back in the 80’s for this, Booberry, and Count Chocula. I may have even talked my folks into getting a box of this stuff here. I didn’t like it, though, I remember that, so I never went back to the others.

As mentioned earlier in the week, this one was my favorite, though it didn’t start that way. My mom brought it home one day when the store ran out of Count Chocula, and I remember complaining and being a pain in the ass about it (kids, huh?). Naturally, like any good mom of the day, her attitude was “this is what we have, and this is what you’ll be eating”.

The funny thing is that I wound up liking it so much that I didn’t let my pride stand in the way, lest she not buy it anymore- and let her know right away how much I loved it. It’s funny how some of these memories stick with us all these years later.

  • Good lord, look at his nails. That can’t feel good…

  • Flangepart

And with that head, he might be part ferengi.

  • Ken_Begg

I agree with that! Love me the citrus.
