A new post at Baker's Log, for those who need help in finding a selection for this week's viewing: http://rock-baker.blogspot.com/2013/10/80-movie-ideas-for-halloween.html

A pretty good list, Rock. I might quibble with a couple entries, but very solid. You had some entries I didn't expect, too. If I may add one:

DR. TERROR'S HOUSE OF HORRORS (1965): British anthology horror movie starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee and a rather young Donald Southerland. Despite the overwrought name, it is a fantastic film. Some of the stories are quite chilling and scary while others have a nice dark humor to them.

Highly recommended, assuming you can find it. I believe the only legit release is on VHS, but there appears to be gray-market DVDs on eBay.

Oh, there were many I forgot to include ("I BURY THE LIVING!", SHE-FREAK, etc.), but I had to stop at some point!

Man, I haven't seen DR. TERROR'S HOUSE OF HORRORS since I was about twelve! I'd love to see it again.

It still holds up! A true classic, despite the goofy name.

Great list Rock! I have seen or have on DVD about half of these- I need to check out the rest.

I have to admit to being a little confused though- no mention of 'Evil Dead,' 'Evil Dead II,' or 'Army of Darkness?'

Well, My aim was to highlight some of the films you wouldn't find on other people's lists. Couldn't resist throwing in ARSENIC AND OLD LACE, though!

Ah, ok see your point. I'd considered 'Evil Dead I & II' somewhat obscure but to a horror fan I guess they probably aren't.

I did find, in preparing the piece, that I have been blessed to've seen a fair number of better-then-average, if somewhat obscure, 80's monster movies.
