Well, ET was in theaters for something like a year. I think Top Gun was in theaters for 3 or 4 months. I also think the original Fast and the Furious was in theaters for several months. If you add drive-ins and dollar/second run theaters (yes, both still exist) then you can really extend the life of a movie.

And, of course, there's the Rocky Horror Picture Show which has been going for nearly 40 years.
