*This* should help revive the floundering newspaper business…

Author, humorist and blogger James Lilek has just be reassigned by his newspaper, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.  They’ve cancelled his column and reassigned him to work the local newsbeat.

The Strib has long had a reputation as an epically clueless institution, but WOW.  That’s all I can say to that.  By the time enough people cancel their subscriptions to wise them up, I fully expect Lileks to have a better paying job somewhere else.

Wow, you are right, Ken. That is epic-ly clueless. When he is “on” he is one of the best writers I have ever read. And I would never have heard of the Strib if not for him.

I read Lileks daily. I’ve never read the Strib. So I suppose this is all my fault. Sorry!

I was sadly unfamiliar with Lileks until today.
I went off to one of his sites and read a description of a Chinese Communist opera as interpreted from some cards he had.
I spent several minutes desparately trying to stifle my laughter so as to avoid odd looks from coworkers.
Thanks for bringing him to my attention. I look forward to familiarizing myself with his work.
