    Thanks.  At least I know now what my nightmares will be about tonight. Is there an Australian equvalent to  William Shatner?  I bet the could use him now.

    Nice that they worked a Kingdom of the Spiders reference in there.

    That last shot is pretty impressive. Looks just like the way I decorate my bushes at Halloweentime, only now I probably have to get more plastic spiders just to make it look realistic. Yeesh!

    I can see why they’d reference KotS.  When I saw that first picture, I immediately thought of it.

    Man, they’re lucky they’re wolf spiders.  Considering it’s Australia, it could have easily been a bunch of death-dealing ultra-venomous ones running around.

    Of course, the upside to that possibility would be that the drop bear population would likely go down severely…

    I’m surprised no one has made a funnel web spider movie yet.  They’re like bald tarantulas but incredibly venomous.

  • KINGDOM OF THE SPIDERS is a “clunker”? I must have a different definition of “clunker” than they do. KINGDOM OF THE SPIDERS was a hit at the box office for DIP, and has become a major cult classic. Plus, it’s just a really good little movie. I’ve been considering pitching a sequel (PLANET OF THE SPIDERS), I just don’t want to be anywhere near the actual filming!

    As to the actual event seen in the photos, I hope someone is getting some footage! (Actually, they probably aren’t, given that no one seems to be as opportunistic these days when making exploitation movies. When I had my Super 8 camera, I took advantage of anything interesting with hopes to build a feature around it, which is why I captured footage of a destroyed fence after a car slid off the road near the school building (this would be used for where the monster broke through), and the plum of fire and smoke rising from a burning house (could literally do a dozen different things with that). How was I to know I’d never be able to have the footage processed, or that Kodak would stop producing/distributing/processing kodacrhome? Once I had been able to conquer my natural uneasiness about the living nightmare on display, you could bet I’d be getting miles of footage of something this choice!)
