TOMORROW: Whisperer in Darkness showing in VT…

Beloved friends and Fellow Whisperers,

I can’t help but share my happiness at the following turn of events. The Whisperer in Darkness is being screened this Thursday night as part of a special event to raise money for the restoration of the Main Street Museum in White River Junction, Vermont, which was badly damaged during the flooding that followed the recent Hurricane Irene on the east coast.

It is deeply satisfying that our movie based on a story that was written after the devastating Vermont floods of 1927 will be used to help, even if only in a very small way, recover from the Vermont floods of 2011, and we are extremely happy and honored to be part of this event. We also donated some
of the props and miniature sets to the museum, some of which will go on permanent display there and some of which will be auctioned off to raise additional money. The miniatures arrived in Vermont this morning, and happier ending for them could not be imagined.

The event is being organized by Stephen R. Bissette, a well-known cartoonist, and Joseph A. Citro, a Vermont folklorist and novelist. There’s some coverage about the “floodraiser” in the Brattleboro Daily Reformer. It is amazing to me that we created elaborate replicas of 1927 issues of that newspaper to use as props in the movie, and now photos of our production are being featured in the actual paper! Some kind of weird full-circle, life-imitating-art-imitating-life thing is happening, and it’s fun.

Please check out the following links for more information! Spread the word on Twitter, Facebook, email, or whatever so they can get the best possible turnout!http://srbissette.com/?p=13373http://srbissette.com/?page_id=13265

    HUZZAH!!!

I hope no strange giant crawfish bodies were washed down in the flooding.

That’s a really neat poster! (Which reminds me, Ken, you never got that B Fest -or whichever fest it was for- poster for me……)

  • the poster is designed to look like an old-time one. Note how it proudly proclaims that it’s a talkie.

  • The Rev.

I saw this for free at Sandy’s. Even if it wasn’t for a good cause, I’d still pay to see it again. That’s how good it is.
