It’s funny because it’s 5% exaggerated.

  • More like 1% exaggerated.

For what it’s worth, On Stranger Tides was awesome. And it was probably less of a rehash than At Worlds End was.

  • Was it not based on the Tim Powers book, “On Stranger Tides”, about Blackbeard?

If so, Bruckherimer deserves 0 cred.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll keep saying it until big money Hollywood executives start reading Ken’s blog and use it to shape mega-million dollar movie decisions:

I really hope that PotC: On Stranger Tides is successful so that other, better Tim Powers novels get made into movies that aren’t shoe-horned in to totally unrelated projects.

Last Call or Expiration Date could be made into very decent movie adaptations at SyFy level funding.

I actually enjoyed On Stranger Tides, nothing flash but certainly better than the previous sequels. It’s a bit of a pity that more of Tim Powers novel didn’t actually make it to the screen but it could be good if it indirectly lead to some his other work getting proper adaptations for the screen.
