B-Fest Line-up posted…

http://www.b-fest.com/lineup.html

In deference to my tender sensibilities (I go in without looking so that I may be extra appalled by the appearance of each film as it manifests), please don’t comment on specific titles. General yeas or nays on the line-up as a whole are welcome.

I have to see all the comments when I go (frequently) to kill spam, so I can’t just avoid this thread. However, our old chatboard is still up, so feel free to post there and discuss the pros and cons of actual titles.

  • On the whole, it looks like a decent lineup. But after someone on BMMB asked where the meal break is on Saturday, I crunched the numbers over the weekend and found that there doesn’t appear to be one. (No space for Mystery Shorts, either.) So I suspect that the schedule will shift around significantly come the 28th.

  • Really? How many movies are there? There’d have to be sixteen or more (assuming films average 90 minutes and less) to run them sans breaks. Usually there are like 13-14.

  • Mr. Rational

Ken: There are fourteen announced movies, plus one announced short. But yeah, there doesn’t seem to be any really significant break space allotted. How long do they usually allow for the Saturday meal break?

  • Mr. Rational

Oh, and a tentative uncertainty on the lineup as a whole. It is definitely NOT going to be to some people’s tastes, but I think it could work.

  • Mr. R — Hmm, you unnerve me, sir. I hope this isn’t a reply of the year we had a ton of mediocre, overlong ’80s films (as opposed to really good or really awful ’80s films).

I’d say the morning break has lasted anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes, generally. So…split the difference, half an hour?

  • Mr. Rational

I suppose there might be room for a break on the shorter side of that in between two of the films. Maybe twenty minutes-ish.

  • Mr. Rational

Correction: The B-fest people have noticed the timing problems, and they appear to be fixed.

  • Elizabeth

I think the balance of movie types is pretty good this year, though I’m unsure about including the 3:00 — I think that one’s about done, in terms of mockery.

Also, I just want to let folks know that I am sponsoring the 9:20, so if you have a problem with that? I’ll be sitting in Ken’s section during B-Fest, drinking all the Diet Coke. Come see me.

  • Mr. Rational

Problem with the 9:20? PROBLEM? When I told my two friends what that movie was about, they hooted and gibbered like with no other title. It’s easily the thing the two of them are most looking forward to, with the possible (but unlikely) exception of the 1:10. No, no problem.

  • The Rev.

Someone needs to buy me a plane ticket to Chicago dammit.

I might even pay them back someday.

*deep breath* 2012 is the year…2012…

  • Actually, Rev, barring job firing or something, I might be able to help out with that. Check in with me later on in the year. Mr. Rational and BChasm will be there, so we just need you and Galaxy Jane to join us.

Hopefully the Drauts can make their triumphant return in 2012 as well.

  • I am happy to see that they finally decided to host an all HGL line-up.

  • GalaxyJane

Trust me, I hope 2012 is my year too. Dratted, deranged unemployment! *grumble*

  • The Rev.

Ken: You’re too kind. I’ll keep you in mind, and honestly would’ve said it sooner (like, last year) if I thought someone’d take me up on it.

Still, I should be out of school before the end of the year (shooting for summer) and working full-time by then, so I should be good to go.

I just don’t wanna wait another year! *pouts*

Still, I have Tween- and T-Fest to look forward to (he said, hoping to Jabootu he didn’t just curse things).

  • I honestly think that’s the best contemporary lineup I’ve seen. Pity I can’t make it.
