Steven Seagal Lawman premieres tonight…

On A&E. I’m assuming this falls more into the ‘E’ side of the ledger.

I don’t have A&E, so sadly I won’t be able to see the show. If anyone does, however, and want to post their thoughts for our general edification, please do.

If there is any truth to the blurbs I’ve seen then I say, “Right on Steve”! I’ll tip my hat to anyone with the guts to suit up like that. Say what you will that’s an example of putting your money where your mouth is.

And think about it. Imagine there’s a knock on your door and it is actually Steven Seagal carrying out a real live search warrant! I’d want that on video.

Seeing all the entertainment I’ve gotten from SS over the years (even though all unintentional) I can’t help but wish him well.

I’m sure there will be the equivalent of a SWAT team hinding behind the cameras. I can’t believe that any police dept. would send Seagal go out in the world to enforce the law with just one or two partners. He’s certainly not going to be chasing any suspects down.

  • Doubter! Heretic! I am sure that Mr. Seagal bravely faces down huge gangs of scofflaws with no back up but his steely gaze.

I must admit I would not want to be his partner though – doesn’t he always die?

The promo I’ve seen has Segal yelling at some guy for not getting out of the car. The guy realizes it’s Segal and says “That’s Steven Segal, I want his autograph.” It should be interesting.

Steven Seagal Lawman & Conspiracy Theory with Jesse “The Ego” Ventura are on at the same time(?). Which show will have a bigger “car crash” its so awful but can’t avoid watching it quality?

  • I was surprised to find out that Seagal actually is a deputy sheriff and has been one for 20 years. So this just wasn’t A&E saying “Hey, lets give Steven Seagal a gun and a badge and see what happens.” Other than that, its pretty much ‘Cops’ with Steven Seagal
‘Conspiracy Theory’ seems like its just going to make crazy people crazier.

If anyone’s interested, here’s a review of the show, that makes me think it would be Jabootu-approved:

(Sample quote: “And now, with his new reality show “Steven Seagal: Lawman,” Seagal has cemented his position as an accidental comedy savant. It’s easily the funniest thing he’s done since the climactic speech from “On Deadly Ground” (his infamous directorial debut about evil oil companies polluting the Alaskan wilderness), and one of the more entertaining additions to the Has-Beens On Parade reality sub-genre.”
