Sequels nobody is calling for: Ghost Rider 2

Nick Cage (easily the worst part of the first movie) has been pushing this idea for a while, but it seems like the idea is picking up steam.  Presumably this is for the same reason Fox has announced revived work on new Fantastic Four and Daredevil movies, etc; now that Disney owns Marvel, the other studios that got the film rights to Marvel characters from a previous regime don’t want Disney reclaiming those rights, which is generally contingent on said studios actually making such a film now and again.  For this reason, you can bet on Sony making Spider-Man movies forever and a day.

Now, the first GR movie was mighty lame, but did contain all the ‘cool’ Ghost Rider visuals hardcore fans of the character (like myself, who naturally resented the incorporation of elements of the ‘new’ Ghost Rider into the film) wanted.  Therefore, I’m not sure where they’d go from there.  I mean, they could make an actually good movie, but how likely is that, especially with Cage and his hideous Elvis accent back on board?*

(The perfect actor to play Johnny Blaze?  Go back about twenty years, and Michael Beihn would have been absolute dead on.  Somebody like that.)

Why twenty years ago? Biehn is still damn cool, even if he never seems to get into a real movie.

I told you this was coming Ken, let’s hope they improve on the overall silliness of the first one. I would not mind seeing Peter Fonda return, perhaps Michael Biehn would be a decent villian in the sequel. He would have made a great Johnny Blaze, but we should be honest, we are stuck with Nicolas Cage and his Con Air Elvis imitation.

maybe this means we will finally see some forward momentum on battlefield earth 2…..

Sam Worthington (best known to US audiences from Terminator Salvation and the upcoming Avatar) would make a great Johhny Cage (or Danny Ketch for that matter).

And I would LOVE to see a quality FF movie
