Now THIS is a GI Joe Movie…

This is back from 1990 (pre-Toy Story), so it’s more original than it perhaps now seems.  I saw this at an animation tourney back in the day, but this is the first time I managed to track it down.

    Also, unlike Toy Story it’s good old-fashioned practical stop-motion animation (and while there’s a generation of guys out there who love the Joes of the 80s, you really couldn’t do something like this with the small joints-only-at-hips-and-shoulders ficgures.

    have you seen the gi joe resolute cartoons popping up on youtube? I watched the first 3, and they’re pretty decent. warren ellis wrote them. I still think he’s overrated.

    As a child raised on equal parts GI Joe and Transformers, I feel the need to point out that while most action figures of the 80’s were jointed only at the hips and shoulders, GI Joe wasn’t one of them. They were fully articulated save at the wrist/hands.
