Cowboy Bebop The Movie in theaters next Sunday through Tuesday

I know nearly none of you care about anime, but Cowboy Bebop, like Death Note or Dragonball Z or Fist of the North Star or Sailor Moon (much less Pokemon) fall into that “seen by a lot of non-anime people group. The movie is also fairly hard to find in any case, much less in a theater.

Next Sunday it will play at local theaters in the afternoon (dubbed) and 7:30 in the evening (subtitled). Wish that was switched, but oh well. Monday night at 7:30 is a repeat of the dubbed version, while the subtitled version is replayed at Tuesday night at 7:30. And that’s it.

Apparently some company has been playing anime films once a month for about a year now, and this is one of the last ones. I wish they had advertised these more. I just stumbled across this, and would definitely had seen some of the earlier ones had I known.

    Yes, and.

For those who really are anime nerds, the last movie in the series will be shown February 7-11, and is Satoshi Kon’s masterwork “Paprika”.

I was particularly to have missed the showings of the legendary psychothriller Perfect Blue, but hopefully I’ll get another chance someday.

Also, Fathom Events hasn’t announced any Ghibli Fest showings this year. (In fact, considering the lack of Hollywood content coming for much of the year, Fathom’s announced showings are weirdly sparse.) They’ve been doing a Ghibli Fest for four or five years now, but I fear they are dropping it for 2024. Bummer if true.
