Recommended site: Stuff Geeks Love…

A series of essays on the various pathologies of geeks which are all the more brutal for being so clinically composed. I recognized enough of myself in some of them to think “ouch” at the same time I was laughing.

    Uh, how about a link?

  • The whole sentence is a link.

Hmmm, nothing on music, literary or science geeks (I proudly herald my membership in the first two but I don’t have the discipline to be accetpted into the third). The only thing on that website that really fits me is the black cloths thing but I do have more than 1000 CDs arranged in alphabetical order by artist and chronologically within each artist’s catalogue.

Replace the Star Trek stuff with college football and rock and metal trivia and you have me. Spot on the part about geeks not thinking about (or even noticing) other people and their worldview. Lord knows I don’t.

Why think “ouch”? It’s what we like and we refuse to change. Geeks are the youthful incarnations of the front-porch curmudgeons they will eventually become.
